2. Sunscreen – Protect Yo’self! ☀️
Working in the beauty industry for the past 10 years, this is one of the biggest lessons I have learned! I used to be that girl with a $50/month tanning membership who was in there multiple times a week! I LOVED the way my body looked with a tan… who doesn’t?
Until I started to notice an extreme difference in the skin of my clients. It's easy to spot the women who use sunscreen vs. the ones who don't. Clients who used sunscreen had more collagen to their skin, it was even toned and had a buoyancy to it. They often looked significantly younger than their age!
Whereas those who were little sun babies (without sunscreen), had more wrinkles, more uneven skin tone and sunspots to cover. Overall, their skin didn’t appear as heathy. The glow was gone…
I never leave my house without sunscreen now, and neither should you! Don’t believe me- well, what do the studies say? Check it out:
How much/often should you apply?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, everyone should use a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher, broad spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays), and is water resistant.
Apply sunscreen to dry skin 15 minutes before going out into the sun. Make sure to reapply every two hours and/or immediately after sweating or swimming.
Don’t forget your lips! Skin cancer can form there as well! So, make sure to protect your pucker by using a lip product that has sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more!
